A World of Difference for Fleets
In 2015, we continued to expand and globalize WABCO’s strategy to offer products and services that advance fleet performance.
As anticipated, WABCO’s intelligent on-vehicle safety and efficiency systems are combining with off-vehicle data analytics support. This connectivity enables fleet managers to act on information and operational insights in real time. Through these differentiated digitized services, WABCO’s customers can improve driver and vehicle performance while also optimizing their fleet’s utilization.
WABCO is passionate about continuing to grow business with fleets around the world through the vector of digital communication—delivering the connecting force— between “vehicle and driver” and the “heart” of the fleet operation.
Technology Leadership for Fleets
As WABCO marked the first full year since its acquisition of Transics International, an industry-leading provider of fleet management solutions (FMS), we demonstrated our successful integration and leveraging of synergies with the introduction of TX-TRAILERGUARD™, our first integrated product.
TX-TRAILERGUARD enables our industry’s first FMS that transmits a rich source of real-time information on the performance of the truck, trailer and driver—all integrated onto a single screen on the fleet manager’s desk. This can help to boost fleet safety and efficiency by relaying critical data such as the status of the vehicle’s electronic braking system, tire pressure, security, axle load and cargo temperature as well as other operating functions.
Further differentiated WABCO fleet solutions include OptiLoad™, which helps to avoid overload on the truck’s axles, and TailGUARD™, which provides blind-spot-detection with automatic braking during reversing operations.
In 2015, WABCO launched OptiFlow™ Tail, an aerodynamic technology that helps to improve the fuel economy and operational efficiency of trailers. As the first supplier to bring such an innovation to market in Europe, WABCO continues to pioneer aerodynamics for the benefit of fleets, including further environmental friendliness.
Also in 2015, WABCO invested $20 million in SmartDrive Systems, a U.S.-based leader in driving performance management solutions. We are jointly developing next-generation, video-based analytics solutions to help commercial vehicle fleets worldwide access the safety and fuel-efficiency benefits of optimized driving behaviors.
In February 2016, WABCO announced expansion of its suite of fleet management solutions by acquiring the capability to offer the industry’s first and only full system that provides remote trailer door-lock functionality. This represents yet another breakthrough in security solutions for fleets.
Supporting Fleets Across the Globe
Extending WABCO’s support for fleets of trucks and buses—commercial and government-owned alike—our commercial vehicle aftermarket network now spans more than 110 countries, providing industry-leading technical support, services and training.
As of 2015, WABCO’s aftermarket network includes 2,418 certified Service Partners and 3,100 authorized Distribution Points. WABCO diagnostic services help 18,250 registered users with more than 60 system diagnostic programs in up to 23 languages.
Our subsidiary in India has its own leading independent aftermarket network. With more than 7,000 WABCO outlets nationally, it provides fleet customers with broad access to full product and services support. This outstanding connectivity with vehicle operators further differentiates WABCO in India.
As of 2015, we have further extended the reach of WABCO’s unique network of aftermarket coverage. We have opened offices in South America, the Middle East, Central Europe and Russia, providing operators on different continents with additional connecting points to WABCO.
WABCO University, our professional training organization, served customers from 72 countries, an annual record. It graduated 15,950 participants, another annual record.
A center of excellence for technical, business and driver training, WABCO University offers courses at training centers in 16 locations in Europe, Asia and South America. We also provide on-site training at customer locations worldwide and online e-learning in 11 languages, including Chinese and Russian. Our TOP Driver program remains WABCO University’s leading safety training.
Enhancing WABCO’s growth prospects among fleets, we launched a new aftermarket product range in 2015— called ProVia. The quality and reliability of ProVia, backed by WABCO’s global engineering, manufacturing and aftermarket service excellence, offers a compelling alternative to budget spare parts, which can often fall short on performance.
In 2015, we expanded the product offering of WABCO Reman Solutions by 27% and extended it to Campinas, Brazil, growing its global footprint to four continents. It remanufactures components and products made by WABCO and other manufacturers.
For fleets in particular, WABCO Reman Solutions provides further value for end-of-life product management and contributes to environmental sustainability.
Now, more than ever, WABCO is investing to expand its position at the center of the world of fleets through a unique suite of capabilities, excellent market connections and global coverage.
